The walk starts from the head of Lake Te Anau and follows the Clinton River through the glacier carved valley before climbing over the McKinnon Pass and descending into Arthur Valley. A treat at this point is the Sutherland Falls which is the fourth highest waterfall in the world. The track continues through rainforests and past Lake Ada to Sandfly Point where you want to break out the bug spray. At this point you can catch a boat to Milford Sound.
