This full day tour is a fascinating journey through one of the world's newest eco systems, formed as a result of the 1886 Mt Tarawera volcanic eruption which wiped out an entire village and destroyed the world famous Pink & White terraces. Your day includes a walk through Waimangu Volcanic Valley amongst native bush, silica terraces and furmaroles to Frying Pan Lake, the world's largest hot water spring. A very informative cruise on Lake Rotomahana, a bush walk on the Te Ariki Isthmus and another cruise, this time on Lake Tarawera. Next explore The Buried Village, frozen in time since the massive eruption on 10 June 1886. Return to Rotorua via the Blue & Green Lakes and a short city sightseeing tour. Total walking approx. 5 kms. Includes morning coffee, lunch, coach transfers, two lake cruises and all entry fees. Departs 8.30 am, returns approx 3.45 pm.
